It is a few days ago the news that December 2017 marked a record nationally in the production of wind energy.
The data provided by Terna, the public control company that manages the high voltage grid and the distribution of electricity throughout the peninsula, comfort us and confirm that in December, compared to the same period a year ago, energy produced from wind energy, it grew by 50.4%, while production due to hydroelectric plants and plants powered by traditional sources such as gas and coal fell.
Significant growth also for photovoltaics with a growth of 14% on an annual basis.
Energy saving and poetry
Precisely in the next few days, to be exact on February 23rd, the thirteenth edition of the campaign in favor of energy saving occurs. For the day of energy saving, an advertisement was created, the slogan of which recalls the famous verses “M’illumino d’immenso” of the poem Mattina di Ungaretti.
The focus is not only on energy conservation but also on sustainable lifestyles, and is therefore aimed at a model of life that helps, promotes and encourages the sharing of actions in favor of the environment and its protection. The initiative includes “energy silence” from 6 to 8 pm: a symbolic gesture that can last only a minute and will be accomplished by institutions, associations, schools and individuals.
The “M’illumino di meno” initiative is organized under the high patronage of the European Parliament and the Presidency of the Republic, with the accession of the Senate and the Chamber. The schools were also the protagonists of the day, with the Ministry of Education inviting all 8,000 Italian institutes to show their love for the planet with events and projects.
The 13th edition of “M’illumino di meno” also sees the “debut” of the Ministry for Heritage and Cultural Activities, which adheres with about sixty museums and places (including Pompeii excavations) through squares, monuments and churches in various cities from Bolzano to Catania.
Some symbolic places of our country will remain in the dark: from Piazza San Marco in Venice to the Arena di Verona, from the Castello Sforzesco in Milan to Piazza del Campo in Siena, passing through the Campidoglio in Rome and the Mole Antonelliana in Turin.
When there is no longer any need to celebrate the world day of energy conservation, it will be a real event, for now, be content with the news revolving around renewable energy and the ever-growing “green behavior” that conquers more and more countries in the world.
